Tressera: Made for the movies Style icons

Tresserra: a Spaniard seduces Hollywood.

Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon, Jack Palance and Jack Nicholson, Jeremy Irons and Sean Young – all of these actors have something in common: for particular film scenes, their movie sets were furnished with unusual items created by the designer, Jaime Tresserra. Purposely chosen to create luxury surroundings. To produce an interior that provides an unusual design with sophisticated functionality. And to give each scene this distinctive flowing sense of light that Tresserra represents. Not only major film producers are fascinated by the designer’s collection. There is a worldwide demand for his charming creations.

Bright, smooth polished walnut and the finest calfskin, complemented with fine details in polished chrome or shimmering matt metal: these are the elements used by Jaime Tresserra Clapés to create his extravagant designer furniture. All of his furniture items display his keen sense of elegance and his personal character can be seen from the unconventional designs. Just as Carpett has this effect on its glass base like a casually worn, leather-bound book and, only upon closer inspection, is recognisable as the finely crafted secretary desk that it is – with a body made from walnut, sycamore wood compartments and silver-edged corners. The round design is also a characteristic of the Casablanca armchair, whose lavish leather and velvet upholstery rests against the curved wooden back. Cantilevered armrests and a footrest ensure perfect seating comfort. Tresserra aspires to create style icons, whose beauty and design move every beholder to the core. This does justice to every item in his collection. Because by breaking with the traditional straight lines and presenting the large volume of wood in a flowing dynamic, he creates an incomparable fascination. The same effect is created by the Samuro cabinet, which consists effectively of two ellipses or the Carlton-House Butterfly desk, a perfect example of symmetry and balance. When viewing these artworks, the fact that Tresserra’s works are displayed in a number of museums as examples of outstanding design expertise, is simply a logical consequence. His exhibits can be seen in Barcelona, Munich, Hamburg and Amsterdam.

Having grown up in Barcelona, in a family of actors and fashion designers, Jaime Tresserra was surrounded by creativity from a young age. The early successes at international furniture trade fairs in Milan and Cologne, where his exclusive designs received a rapturous reception from both public and critics alike, were followed by major awards and soon international acclaim as a top designer. Along with the creations for his personal collection, Tresserra has also undertaken customer-oriented projects – for example, he was in charge of the design of 28 luxury apartments at the Hotel Arts in Barcelona, developed an exclusive interior design concept for the office of the Qatar Minister of Culture and planned the interior design for private residences in various countries around the world. To date, the creation of individual one-offs for discerning customers has been a significant field of business. Although many inspirational items are presented in the showrooms of Barcelona, Paris and New York with the collection comprising approximately 100 works, the designer is happy to discuss the customers’ private wishes. A number of yachts also carry his hallmarks – with the unmistakable combination of wood, leather and metal, the lively dynamics that are so typical of the designer and the meticulously handcrafted quality. In one of his latest projects, he goes one step further and allows himself to place the artistic elements ahead of the functional. The results are correspondingly visionary: the multi-door cabinet, for example, is distinguished by the many imperceptible physical and chemical formulas – for him the road to a new found freedom.
